Sept. 13 6-8pm "I want a President..." Writing Workshop @ Anacostia Art Center

Next up for "I want a president...(a collective reading-DC) ,  co-organizer Natalie Campbell & I will be at the Anacostia Art Center Cafe, where we'll host another writing workshop to get more voices into the mix.

What do you want in a president? What experiences should be reflected? What do you wish to see in government that seems impossible from where we stand now?  This evening invites the public to engage with and adapt a 1992 text by artist and activist Zoe Leonard listing demands for a new U.S. president. The adapted texts from this series of workshop will be archived online and will culminate in a public collective reading on Oct 16 at 5:30 pm in front of the White House.

June 15, 6-8pm Project Launch @ Furthermore Happy Hour/Comet Ping Pong

I am thrilled to be launching my next project I want a president... (a collective reading-DC) at the next Furthermore Happy Hour.  A DC-based collective, Furthermore hosts these casual events to check in with their community and fellow creatives, see what everyone is up to, and introduce new projects.

For this gathering, my co-organizer & Furthermore co-conspirator Natalie Campbell & I will present ideas and invite feedback as we prepare for IWAP-DC.  This first US iteration of an international action inspired by Zoe Leonard’s 1992 text will take place in mid-October, leading up to the general election. Please join us as we take over the very back room of Comet Ping Pong, our gracious host venue for this launch event.

May 19th at 3:20pm, Presenting @ the Smithsonian American Art Museum

Thursday May 19, in the afternoon session of the SAAM Fellows three-day lecture series, I'll be sharing work from my current chapter-in-progress on Charlotte Moorman's curatorial work.  Titled "Producing Platforms: Charlotte Moorman, Lucy R. Lippard and Catalytic Curating," the talk offers a comparative look at the experimental curatorial work of Moorman and Lippard in the late 1960s.
